Ph.D. Level

  • Ph.D. seminar: Issues and Projects in Sustainability Management (with Prof. Dr. Rolf Wüstenhagen): This elective course examines basic approaches and concepts in sustainability management in business as well as managerial questions surrounding renewable energy. By examining original texts (particularly in English), the questions involving the relationship between sustainability and economic success, concepts of sustainability management and the orientation of sustainability strategies will be explored in depth, including with respect to innovation and energy management..
  • Ph.D. seminar Research Focuses in Sustainability Management (with Prof. Dr. Rolf Wüstenhagen): This colloquium accompanies the Ph.D. thesis to serve as a discussion forum for Ph.D. projects that are already in their advanced stages. 
  • Ph.D. student seminar Introduction to Scientific Theory and Methods: Research concepts (with Prof. Dr. Torsten Tomczak): The Ph.D. student seminar is dedicated to the conceptual and methodical design of Ph.D. projects and is in line with the systematic stages of the research process: The central question, concept, research methods, and composition of the work

Master’s Level 

  •  A special programme for sustainability management at the Master’s Level is in the planning stages as part of a new Master of Arts in Management (beginning in the Fall Semester 2012). 
  •  New Master’s theses cannot be supervised until spring semester 2012.

Bachelor’s Level

  • Elective course in Sustainability Management and Marketing (with Prof. Dr. Frank-Martin Belz, TU Munich): The seminar examines the approaches used in modern sustainability management and marketing as one part of general management responsibilities, as they have evolved as a reaction to ecological and social challenges in business management and in the course of current debate surrounding sustainability. The seminar provides an overview of the current state of scientific knowledge as well as a current look at the responsibilities and solutions required in business practice. 
  • The overall goal of the integration seminar is for Bachelor’s Level students in their final semester to integrate the knowledge modules they have acquired in the course of their studies by working on a cross-functional, broad topic in a practical context. The topic addressed in the SS 2011 analyses the requirements for educating responsible-minded managers.
  • New Bachelor theses cannot be supervised until spring semester 2012.
